There are several GPS and survey units available at RMBL.  This section should help you make a decision about which one you should use.

TRIMBLE GEOXT

You should use the Trimble GeoXT if the following applies:

1.) You want a simple to use, small handheld unit

2.) Sub-meter accuracy is sufficient

3.) Satellites are available (you are not working in dense trees or close to a mountain)

4.) You only have one person to operate the GPS unit

5.) You can wait for the data to be post-processed

TOPCON HIPER PRO

You should use the TopCon Hiper Pro if the following applies:

1.) You need millimeter accuracy (20mm). If you are working in an area smaller than 1 
     meter you should use this unit.

2.) You have time to spend on more training (several sessions of 2-3 hours each)

3.) Your site is within one of RMBL's localizations

4.) Satellites are available (you are not working in dense trees or close to a mountain)

5.) You want data as soon as possible (no post processing necessary)

TOPCON CONVENTIONAL TOTAL STATION

 You should use the convention Total Station if the following applies:

1.) You need the best accuracy possible (5-10mm)

2.) Satellites are not available, however, line of sight is available

3.) You have 2-3 people available to collect data

4.) You have time to spend on more training (several sessions of 2-3 hours each)

5.) You can use data in ground coordinates (you don't need lat/long or UTM)
